Midlands based Joel Darkes has been singing and playing music professionally for three years. An accomplished solo performer, his set lists regularly include a wide variety of well known songs from 1950s – present day. His passion and knowledge for music are informed by influences as varied as The Beatles and Michael Buble. Joel is an accomplished singer, musician and songwriter & by day passes his talents onto his students as a Guitar tutor.
Joel is also part of a young energetic band called 'The Return' all individual characters with a great look and a very exciting stage presence. Writing and performing their own songs, which are catchy, with memorable hook lines and tunes (and some great harmonies). Having Toured across the UK they have appeared at; Liverpool O2 Academy, Birmingham O2 Academy, London O2 Islington Academy, Birmingham NIA Arena (Also NEC Arena), Manchester O2 Academy, Newcastle O2 Academy 2 and Leeds Cockpit and many more. They absolutely blew the audiences away, either supporting well established acts or headlining their own show. They have played and toured with such artists as; Elliot Minor, McFly, Ivyrise, Twenty Twenty, Iglu & Hartly and more. They have picked up a strong national and international fan base which is growing by the day. The Return have received National Radio Play from the likes of; BBC Radio 1 (BBC Switch Show), Kerrang! Radio, Xfm and BRMB...
This experience has been invaluable to Joel and has helped him make his mark as a solo performer, giving him the confidence to take centre stage, covering well known classics and tailor making his choice of songs to suit the audience and the occasion. (Repertoire available upon request) He has performed as a solo artiste throughout the country, in bars, restaurants, hotels and country clubs in addition to regular bookings for private functions including weddings, birthdays and corporate events.
